Lead Lighting Manager
— DURATION AT STUDIO
2024-2025
Although I only worked at Turtle Rock Studios(TRS) for five months, I gave value to the studio in six areas.
1. Organized workflows and processes for in-house documentation on Confluence.
Before my time working, the lighting team had few documents, and all knowledge within the team was known to a few individuals within the department.
2. Researched and created a Miro board to track approved time of day scenarios, weather scenarios, and color schemes from films.
This wasn’t known knowledge for new lighters entering the department or other art departments.
3. Developed the lighting team’s Jira dashboard with the assistance of the producer.
Having a focus lighting team Jira dashboard gave each lighter a visual interpretation of their work in progress, new tasks, bugs, and any other vital information needed to complete their task effectively.
4. Created onboarding documentation for the outsourcing team and incoming lighters.
This gave the lighters ownership and knowledge of the project, where they could find more information, other art departments' knowledge pages, and quick access to information in one location.
5. Connected with other leads to develop workout plans for how, when, and where both art teams would meet, work on issues, and showcase completed work.
Set weekly meetings with the Look Development and VFX departments to strengthen communication and trust for each other’s craft.
6. Lit multiple open-world maps with different time of day scenarios and interior lighting passes, and relit multiple large open-world maps at the Creative Director’s request.
This gave me a better understanding of Unreal Engine 5 and strengthened my lighting skills.
Working with TRS gave me valuable insight into my organization, communication, and leadership skills. I came to the realization that I am an outstanding Project Manager, Lead, and artist.
The project is under a NDA.
